Will Rock Band drum set for Rock Band 2 be any different than the first Rock Band?

I have Rock Band for the ps2 and I was wondering if the drum set will be any different for the Rock Band 2. I heard some rumors that there are going to be symbols. And if there are symbols, will you be able to put them on the first drum set, or do you have to buy a whole new drum set?

the cymbals are addons, u can probably use them with 1 b/c the colouyrs are the same…
